ISRO is aiming for the sky: ISRO is exploring ways to access spacel. It is indeed aiming for the sky. It is exploring new technologies and strategies for low-cost access to space tourism, colonization of Mars and Moon and organizing human space flight programmes. Ajey Lele stated that “Space tourism is something where India can play a niche role with its affordable solutions. However, this will take some time.” ISRO was allocated $1.27 billion in India for the year 2009-2010. Rs 5,000 crore was the allotment made for India’s human space flight programme. To reach Mars, ISRO used vehicles such as GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle), GSLV Mark 3 and PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle). Dr Radhakrisnan stated that “More than 200 places in India are disaster prone related to draught, flood, land slides and cyclones.” He further added that in the future ISRO will increase the communication transponders in 2040 from 211-500 as par the increasing demand.
