Search Wars! Battle of the Major Search Engines

It's pretty safe to say that anyone who has a computer that has at one time or another used a search engine. Search engines are extremely useful creatures. They have had great influence on our society, we think its pretty amazing that you can just go write in anything you want into a search box and get back information about it in about two seconds. Before search engines, we came largely to be trusted to go to the library for more information. With that being said the popularity of the search has created a very large market. The emergence of paid search engine advertising has jumped into a multi-billion dollar a year industry, which creates some pretty tough competition. Right now we are in the middle of a major war on the Internet, with the biggest players are Yahoo, MSN, Google, and a strong contender in the upcoming Ask. So you may wonder who will win this war right now? And why? And who will take the lead in the future? One thing is certain reward for being the king of the search mountain will reap billions and billions of dollars annually.

So what are those Top Gun search engines are competing against? The answer is click on paid advertisements, they present each time someone uses their search engine. If you notice when you use Google, for example, the top of the page and on the right side it says sponsored sites. This is where people are trying to make money online pay to advertise their business. These prices vary from Nickels and Dimes per click, all the way up to hundreds of dollars per click, depending on the keyword. So the main objective of a search engine is to get as many people as possible to use them to search the web. Think for a second, the more searches they get, the greater the chance of people clicking on their paid ads, where they earn their money. Now obviously not everyone will click on the paid ads, only a small percentage of queries they receive ever actually make money search engine. But, with one million queries per day, it takes only a small percentage to really make a big difference in money.

So who are the warlords who goes to fight here? And who is the head? The three largest competitors are MSN, Google and Yahoo and Ask are fighting its way back into the mix of things with some pretty nice search features.

As of right now Google is the tip they receive somewhere in the ballpark of 80% of all Internet searches. Google is estimated to gross about $ 3 billion in 2006, all from only paid advertising. Now you may ask, why is it that Google is so far ahead? Well there are a few reasons. Firstly, Google has the most sophisticated algorithms, which are mind hallucinations mathematical equation that goes and lists of places, depending on the keyword. Trying to understand their algorithm is extremely complicated, Google only hires absolute geniuses to work for them. Secondly, the brilliance of Google.com itself, as is their website.

Take a look at Google's website, all you can do is type your keyword in the search box and press search. There is really nothing to walk on the beautiful clean lines and easy to use, with absolutely no distractions from getting people to do what they want. There are search

Now take a look at MSN or Yahoo's homepage. It's just jam packed with all sorts of things to do to play games to read articles about news. This stuff is great and all, but it does distract people from typing in the search field and, inevitably, click on a paid ad put money in your pocket. We believe that this is an important part of why Google has such a huge lead in the volume of queries received in relation to the other top guns. .

So we are convinced that in this case the giant would not be taken down. Even if you see advertisements for Yahoo and Ask, you know them with cheesy guy screaming Yahoooo and monkey, Ask is featuring. The bottom line is Google is the best algorithm right now, and their website does not distract people from seeking, which would provide many more searches. Who knows, but just like Google mainly came from no where and took over the market, there may be a new baby on the block that will topple them. But already they are the reigning champions.
