India takes second Position as a Spammer

PandaLabs, Panda Security, malware analysis and detection laboratory study has revealed that Brazil, India, Vietnam, Korea and US are some of the countries from which most spam was sent during the first two months of 2010. India stands on number two in the world as a spammer. Nearly, 10.98 per cent of spam was sent globally from Indian IP addresses. PandaLabs analyzed approximately 5 million spam messages and nearly one million came from different IP addresses. This means that the spam mails came from zombie computers which were infected by a malware or belonged to a botnet. Seoul topped the list from which spam was being sent followed by Hanoi, New Delhi, Bogota, Sao Paulo and Bangkok. “Spamtraps” dedicated mail servers were created by PandaLabs which were designed to capture spam. Spam is used chiefly to distribute malware or sell illicit products.
