Samsung LCD border supply agreement

Samsung Electronics and LG Display Co Ltd, the first two manufacturers in the world panel LCD, will exchange the scoreboards, which marks the first time it has cooperated with the business LCD, a government statement said. Under the preliminary agreement, Samsung, a leading worldwide manufacturer of LCD panels, it would offer smaller rival LG Display screen 17-inch computer screen, while LG Electronics will offer 22-inch display panels for Samsung, Ministry of South Korea, the Knowledge Economy said in a statement. He said the total value of the agreement will be 105.6 billion won or 83.5 million U.S. dollars. The ministry said it expected the scope of the agreement should be broadened to include other forms of the LCD, although the immediate transaction involving TV panels will be difficult as both sides used different technologies in shares of Samsung Electronics fell 0.4 percent to 780,000 won at 0221 GMT, while LG Electronics was down 3 percent. LG Display, a part of LG Group, rose 0.14 percent, according to 0.55 per cent drop in the broader market. The outlook for South Korea and Taiwan LCD manufacturers have brightened recently as fears of oversupply second half has faded, the shortage of glass substrates.
