Samsung Malaysia To 20 Digital Centres

In a move to emerge as a household brand, Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd (SME), will invest an estimated RM10 million to open 20 Samsung digital centres, nationwide, by year-end. Managing Director Yoon Ki Heung said the establishment of the centres in major cities and towns was part of SME's branding and channeling strategy. "Although the outlets will be nationwide, the Klang Valley will be the largest beneficiary in terms of outlets. "We will spend about RM500,000 to set up each outlet, depending on the area, size and market demand", he said after launching the first outlet in collaboration with Supreme Home Appliances Bandar Baru Ampang. On the sales target for the 20 outlets, he said, "We are expecting a monthly turnover of between RM300,000 and RM600,000 from each outlet." Optimistic of achieving the sales target, despite the current depressed environment, he said SME's aim was to enrich the customer's experience in walking into a one-stop centre that stocks mobile phones, digital imaging, home appliances to Samsung IT products and accessories. SME is expected to partner Supreme Home Appliances to open an outlet each in Bangi and Shah Alam.
