Cell phone account of North American market

Korean cell phone is very popular in US and Canada. According to the 2Q North American cell phone market report issued by SA, Samsung Electronics sold 11.7million cell phones and took 24.7% market share to keep No.1 for the 4th quarter in a row. LGE, which recorded No.2, sold 10.7million units to take 22.6% share. Combining the two firms, the figure is 47.3%, up 1.4% compared with 45.9% of 1Q. That was approaching the half, which means one out of the two cell phones is Korean product. In particular, Samsung Electronics sold 11.1million units for 3Q and continued shipment record of over 10million units for the 4th consecutive quarter. LGE rose to 10million units peak for the first time in 2Q this year. The share of Nokia continues downward trend, recording 6.8% following 7.9% in 1Q. The reason for success of Korean cell phone is that it became premium brand based on the best technology and design. And local customized marketing based on cooperation with local mobile carriers have been effective. Samsung has established strategic relations with 4 US mobile carriers such as AT&T to release popular products. And LGE is continuing popularity with messaging phones in which users can type text fast.
