The acronym is short for "Evolution, Data Only" or "Evolution, Data Optimized". The official name, defined by the Telecommunication Industry Association, is "CDMA2000, High Rate Packet Data Air Interface". It is one of two major Third Generation, or 3G, wireless standards. The two new plans are Network Interface Card based and will be offered at a monthly charge of Rs 250 with deliverable speeds of 144 Kbps and the other plan priced at Rs. 650 per month delivered over EVDO backbone offering speed of up to 2.4 Mbps.
