BSNL Provide High-speed Internet with EVDO Cards

BSNL's new offer for its CDMA subscribers State-owned telecom service provider BSNL has introduced new offers for subscribers of its CDMA platform-based data services. A customer can either avail internet surfing speeds of up to 144 Kbps by using the NIC cards or by using EVDO Cards get speeds up to 2.4 Mbps. Now, BSNL is also offering roaming facility on these cards. EVDO, also known as EV-DO, 1xEvDO and 1xEV-DO, is a standard for high speed wireless broadband. The acronym is short for "Evolution, Data Only" or "Evolution, Data Optimized". The official name, defined by the Telecommunication Industry Association, is "CDMA2000, High Rate Packet Data Air Interface". It is one of two major Third Generation, or 3G, wireless standards. The competing standard is known as W-CDMA. (Source)On promotional basis, BSNL will offer the PCMCIA type of NIC and EVDO cards at Rs. 1,680 and Rs. 2,100 till Sept 30, 2009. The two new plans are Network Interface Card based and will be offered at a monthly charge of Rs 250 with deliverable speeds of 144 Kbps and the other plan priced at Rs. 650 per month delivered over EVDO backbone offering speed of up to 2.4 Mbps. The above-mentioned tariff offers users' unlimited data transfer every month. Certain plans like Rs. 250 for NIC and Rs. 550 for EVDO cards will be discontinued by BSNL.
