Broadcast Electronics celebrates 50 years.

Broadcast Electronics (BE) ushered in the next 50 years as the largest radio-only broadcast equipment manufacturer with a celebration at its Quincy headquarters shared by employees, friends and community leaders yesterday. The event marks the 50th anniversary of BE's incorporation on June 18, 1959. BE President and CEO Joseph Roark attributes the global company's longevity and success to a mix of great employees, good old-fashioned values and world class business processes. "At the heart of BE are dedicated employees who know and appreciate our customers. That is the essence of our company," he said during the morning's tour and celebration. "We are as concerned with our customers' order and customer service experience as we are in providing them with our industry's best products and technical support," he continued. "As an international company, with a presence on every continent around the globe, our competitive success is driven through the practice of lean business processes popularized as the Toyota Production System. Our culture is to provide our customers with the highest quality products, delivered on-time and faster than anyone else, all while providing a competitive value." Recognized during the ceremony were five BE employees who have been with the company since BE moved to Quincy from Maryland in 1977 in order to take advantage of the manufacturing labor pool that remained after Motorola vacated a plant here. Tim Bealor, the company's Vice President of Sales, who was one of those early employees to make the move, entertained the audience with a recounting of the company's move to Quincy and some of its history.
