Benefit Habitat for Humanity

A concert to benefit Habitat for Humanity will be held today at Weber State University. JakeFest, now in its fifth year, is an annual community concert held in memory of Jacob Cody Pratt, a Farmington 15-year-old who was killed in an automobile accident in 2005. "He played the guitar, and he played it really well. He was a great musician and an inspiration to all who knew him," said Chris Lyons, a friend of Pratt's who helped to organize the event. "We do this for Jake every single year. There's nothing else we can do but remember him in the best possible way we can, and what better way is there to do that than hold a concert in his honor and raise money for charity?" The concert will run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at WSU's Shepherd Union Building ballroom. Tickets for the event are $10 at the door. All of the bands playing are local, Lyons said, and include styles ranging from hard rock to acoustic to punk and hardcore metal. Some of the bands scheduled to play include Covendetta, Sirens, Avondale, Emily Rose and Jones/Definition/UnionRap Jack. "We wanted to keep this as local as possible and show people how much talent there is here in Utah," Lyons said. All proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis counties.
