The Annual Atlantic Nationals Car Show in Moncton :

Although damp, overcast weather should continue for the next couple days, the annual Atlantic Nationals car show in Moncton is expected to receive ideal weather conditions for at least its first two days. This is especially good news for those wanting to take in the large display of classic automobiles that will be on display on Main Street on Friday, as well as those performing in and watching the outdoor stage show downtown on Friday night. The day-long event closes the downtown artery to traffic from Mechanic Street to Lutz Street between 8:30 a.m. and midnight on the Friday of the four-day Atlantic Nationals that runs this year from Thursday, July 9 to Sunday, July 12. Classic cars and automotive vendors will line the street all day, Friday, with a three-band concert kicking off the outdoor show at 8 p.m. Andrew Ulrich of State College, Pa., a meteorologist for AccuWeather, said the cloudy, rainy weather of late will prevail the first half of next week. But it is looking pretty good for next Thursday and Friday, he said. Ulrich said it should be fairly clear skies throughout the two days, with a high of 21C (70F) being predicted. At this time, he said weather conditions are looking good for the evening, as well, for the Friday night Atlantic Nationals concert. Early indications call for a sunny day on Saturday in Metro Moncton, said the AccuWeather spokesman. But a low-pressure system is expected to move into the Maritimes some time on the weekend, he said, adding that it could bring showers on Saturday night or Sunday. On the whole, however, Ulrich said weather conditions for all the outdoor events at the Atlantic Nationals show are encouraging. If the arrival of the low-pressure system should come earlier than expected, that could cause problems, said the meteorologist. But current indications are that this will not occur, he said. Environment Canada also sees next Thursday and Friday, the two opening days for the Atlantic Nationals event, as the best two days, weather-wise, next week. But they were concerned there could be shower activity next weekend. But even then, however, said a spokesman for Environment Canada, any precipitation that does fall on the two weekend days would be no more than scattered rainshowers.
