Preh, a leading supplier of automotive driver controls, sensors and electronic control units, has been awarded contracts to develop and produce the new electronic climate control system for the 2010 MY Ford Taurus and Ford Flex. The Preh system comprises an electronic control unit and dedicated software that will provide a comfortable in-cabin climate for the driver and passengers. ontscharitsch, senior vice president of sales at Preh, Inc. says, "Preh has more than two decades of experience with climate control systems and we now supply about four million climate controls worldwide every year. These are developed either as complete systems with integrated electronics and climate control software, or as control units with electronics hardware but no visible parts in the car's interior," he adds. Lontscharitsch says that a new model that is starting to become more accepted integrates the climate controls with the radio and infotainment functions into a single "center stack" control system. Both systems will be manufactured at Preh's production facility in Monterrey, Mexico, and will be delivered to Ford's Taurus assembly plant in Chicago and to the Flex assembly plant in Oakville, Canada. Preh was founded in Germany in 1919. As a full-service supplier, Preh works directly with major automakers in the development and production of complete driver control systems, sensors and electronic control units. The company maintains in-house capabilities for plastics injection molding, precision mechanics, light-pipe design, electronics hardware, surface finishing, laser etching and software development.
