Bingo Operators Likely to Face Threats from Facebook

Social networking giants have made a prominent place in the internet space. These web based services have made millions around the world to get connected in no time. Amongst the major social networking brands, Facebook has acquired the maximum amount of prominence. Facebook has been an effective medium for supporting a good amount of advertising and branding of products. Also, there are bingo apps available at Facebook pages that allow players to play bingo games for free. Players even have the option of receiving Facebook credits to play some games offered at these pages. In the recent news, Facebook has put forth its plans of introducing some form of online gaming that could be a threat for the internet gaming operators. This has become a great cause of concern amidst the UK gaming operators. When Facebook goes ahead to launch its own gambling brands then it will definitely use its gigantic customer base of millions of people in its advertisement campaign. And, this has become a matter of concern for the bingo sites.

Another important concern associated to this was the promotion of underage gambling. Amongst the 800 million Facebook users, around 3 million users are below 18 years falling in the category between 13 and 17. And, another million users pretend to be over 18 years. A senior executive belonging to one of the top UK brands stated that in UK around 50% of the people have created Facebook accounts and this creates a base for the people to get connected in the network of gambling. The executive even stated that online advertising requires significant value of costs that sites need to put forward to promote the branding procedure. And, Facebook was a good source of branding at no cost at all. He even predicted that Facebook could become one of the biggest players in the online bingo market in the coming years. Well, this could be a growing concern for the other bingo sites that all their traffic could be routed towards the Facebook pages. At the same time could also addict the crowd of the younger age to gambling activities.
