If you have been to sell digital products on eBay, you will know that they have not made it too easy for you.
And yet, digital products are the ideal product for eBay sellers.
You can define digital products as in (nearly) 100% profit, are not cost anything to provide, to have no competition, are available in unlimited quantities, costs nothing to re-stock and can sell well.
So many people are now selling digital products on eBay that eBay.com now makes it easier for us.
They have produced an entirely new section on sales forms for us to implement.
If you are based in
But first, just what is digital or downloadable products?
EBay defines a digital item as "a computer file or special information you can access online or delivered electronically."
Examples of digital items is a word processor or pdf file (usually called eBooks), an image taken with a digital camera, an MP3 file of an original song, software, an original recipe, etc.
Here are some of the advantages of selling digital goods:
1. No shipping costs for the buyer or seller
2. Almost NO competition
3. Swarms of customers, if done right
4. Very high margins
5. No release expense
6. No boxes to pack
7. No visit to the Post Office
8. Immediate confirmation of delivery to customers
9. Vendors can grow a mailing list with every sale
10. Letter useful two-step marketing tool (i.e sell a $ 1 report on eBay for driver)
Until recently there was a lot of confusion for some people when it came to sell digital items on eBay, but eBay is now the concept sale of digital goods.
Let us talk now about what eBay has created to help us to sell digital products.
This is a massive step forward.
It answers most of the issues sellers had to sell digital goods, removes most of the obstacles that were previously there and actually goes much further than most had hoped.
You can now for example create a download page where customers will be automatically sent after paying for a digital item via PayPal. This could be a very difficult task before, but now it's automatic.
Also, if you have a web address where you host your digital files for sale, Ebay can give your customers (after they pay) with direct access to the files they have purchased. All you need do is to "provide URL to download" from the pull-down menu when you create your auction.
These are all closely linked to PayPal by digital postal buyers and sellers will be able to get the product delivered automatically and immediately after payment. You do not do this, you can still deliver an e-mail if you wish.
It seems to suggest that digital products will be allowed in many categories now, instead of being limited to one "information" category, which they have hitherto committed digital item sellers to use. Although not clearly spelled out, not the new policy to refer to "a number of categories is used for digital goods. Watch for clarification on this issue.
All this is really good news.
